JF Goodbody


John Frederick Goodbody was my grandfather William's younger brother.  He enlisted on 28 October 1916, age 34, into the HS Works Company Labour Corps Reg No 177756, where he was a Carpenter. He was shown as 4' 11" and 96lbs (6st 12lbs) and had previously worked for CH King, 91 Kingston Road, Kingston upon Thames. He was demobbed 17 January 1919 having spent his whole time in the UK. He had learned his trade at Barnardos as did his brother William Alfred Goodbody. He is shown on the 1901 census as an inmate and an apprentice carpenter.

John was my great uncle.
