WJ Goodbody
William James Goodbody joined the Royal Navy in 1873 at the age of 15. He spent 18 months on the training ship HMS Vincent which was located at Haslar, Portsmouth and started as a B2C (boy second class). By the time he left HMS Vincent he had been promoted to B1C. In November 1874 he transferred to HMS Hector, a steam powered Frigate which was the lead ship in the Hector-class armoured frigates. William was promoted to a ordinary seaman during his time on Hector.
Records show he was served on 9 ships some times serving on the same ship more than once.
